About AAP

Welcome to the mobile-friendly sales portal of Australian Academic Press  which includes a selection of recent and popular books in print and downloadable formats.

Australian Academic Press was founded by psychologist Stephen May in 1987 as an independent publishing house. In February 2012, having published 28 peer-reviewed journal titles over 24 years Stephen split the company and sold the majority journals division to Cambridge University Press to allow him to concentrate on a smaller more specialised book publishing list. AAP continues to publish a selective range of practitioner resources and books in print and digital formats for wholesale distribution across Australia, Europe and North America.

You can find more information about all our titles on our parent website - www.australianacademicpress.com.au. You can buy from either website, though for users more comfortable with mobile devices than desktops, you should find this site easier to navigate.

A word from the owner …

"Publishing can be a powerful tool to promote mental health. But only if it eschews the ‘pop psychology’ realm and dedicates itself instead to disseminating evidence-based interventions and knowledge to both the public and the profession. Yet that doesn’t have to mean bland, academic books sitting on dusty shelves. A publisher should always use their tradecraft to drive sales and produce best-sellers. My aim is to sell as many books as I can to the people who can most benefit from them – win, win." — Stephen May
