Practical, evidence-based resources in psychology, counselling, education, and health.

Since 1987, Australian Academic Press has specialised in publishing work that translates research into real-world practice — clear, usable, and grounded in evidence. Our publications are designed for professionals working in applied settings, as well as informed readers seeking reliable guidance. Titles range from accessible self-help resources through to clinical and practitioner-focused guides, and are often used in practice, training, and service delivery.

In addition to our publishing list, we work with authors and organisations to develop professional resources — from initial concept through to production and distribution via our Professional Publishing Partnerships. This includes projects tailored to specific fields and service contexts.

You can browse our current list of books via the ‘Browse’ and ‘Catgories’ menus above. Our range includes printed books, downloadable PDF editions, combined print and digital access, and selected Open Access eBooks.

Many of our titles are also available as eBooks through Google Play and Amazon Kindle for reading on on mobile devices and tablets. Where this option is available, a link is provided. For buyers outside Australia and New Zealand, most titles can be ordered here in Australian dollars (with postage as indicated) or through your local Amazon store.

Australian Academic Press is an independent specialist publisher and is led by Stephen May, publisher and former registered psychologist.
